Product Details:
Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu'- Japanese Persimmon-Believed to be native to China, ‘Fuyu’ is a well-known cultivar and is also the most popular. Grown in Asia for many centuries, it is a satisfactory gift to Buddha. This deciduous tree will grow to about 25 feet in height and the drooping leaves give it a very tropical appearance. The ovate leaves are about 7 inches long and 4 inches wide. Young leaves are yellow-green but turn glossy green as they age. Leaves turn drastic shades of red, yellow and orange during autumn. Dried and fresh leaves are used to make tea. The fruit is usually flattened and slightly square and similar to a tomato. The fruit can be eaten out-of-hand but should be fully ripe before eating. You can eat an unripened fruit but they are not very tasty. When ‘Fuyu’ turns orange to orange-red it is fully ripe and will taste much sweeter when eaten. Full sun.
