Mangoes-Native to India, Malaysia and Burma, Mango is one of the oldest cultivated trees in the world. In their native habitat, mangoes grow to about 90 or 100 feet in height. Under less than tropical conditions, these trees can be expected to reach heights of about 10 or 20 feet tall. New leaves are reddish or yellowish in color but turn green upon maturing. In the spring to summer months, mango flowers appear, and depending on variety, they have a slightly sweet fragrance and are rather eye catching. Ripe mangoes can be picked directly off the tree and eaten out-of-hand for a tasty sweet snack. Mangoes grow and thrive in full sun. Plant in a well draining soil mix and water regularly until plant is well established.
