Zamioculcas zamiifolia Emerald Fronds ZZ Plant- An amazing aroid from Africa. Superficially resembles a cycad hence the genus and species name. Produces 2 to 3 foot long pointed spears line with alternating shiny dark leaves. Grows from an underground tuber. Has tolerated subfreezing temperatures down to 24F planted outdoors and returned the following spring. Makes great houseplants because it grows well in containers, can tolerate low humidity, low light, and needs little water and little fertilizer. Full shade to medium sun. "Better Homes and Garden Magazine" claims the ZZ Plant is the houseplant of the future.

Special Plants are those that we think are unique and interesting. We offer them to the adventurous gardeners who would like to add more tropical interest and color to their garden or home. Stokes Tropicals has carefully chosen a wide range of exciting tropical plants that are easy-to-grow, that are not commonly available, that have some unusual horticultural interest, and can be successfully grown in containers. We are constantly searching for new and exciting plants particularly tropicals--from Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, and South America.

Great Indoor Plant

By: Neal Bellard
Pros Easy to take care of. Can almost forget it and it keeps on going.
Cons nothing
Comments The plant just stays looking great with almost no care at all. Just a little filtered sunlight and little watering and it keeps on looking great.

Pros I like this plant because it requires little maintenance.
Comments I am currently growing one of these plants on the desk of my office, and getting plenty compliments on how healthy and beautiful this plant is. The ZZ is a must in any household looking to add life and beauty. I can hardly wait until my plants looks like the one in the picture above!
