Curcuma petiolata variegated 'Emperor'- Similar to the common Hidden Lily except that leaves are beautifully variegated. Prefers medium sun. Plant is worth having because of foliage alone. Central blooms are an extra. A very popular ginger that is difficult to keep in stock. Goes dormant in November but returns in May.

Most do best in partial shade; however some thrive in full sun, others in full shade. So gingers provide plants for all light conditions. Many species enter dormancy in response to shorter days, cool temperatures, or dry conditions. Rhizomes (the underground stem) survive in a dormant condition beneath the soil surface during cold or dry conditions.
