Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho Fern'- An excellent landscaping fern and a great addition to any tropical garden Lush symmetrical upright, erect fern fronds that grow 3 to 4 feet in length. Clumps can easily be divided. Also an ideal fern for large baskets. Part sun to full shade.

Peak Period: Middle Devonian (410 to 360 million years ago) In their prehistoric heyday, ferns dominated landscapes. Many evolved into modern plants, and more than 12,000 species thrive today. From big tree ferns to tiny, wispy strains, they reproduce from spores found beneath their fronds, or leaves.

Growing Zone:

9 and higher. "Hardiness" is the capability of a plant to survive cold temperatures. In order to provide a system for identifying the extent of cold temperatures in a particular location, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a map that divides North America into eleven Hardiness Zones.

Product Reviews:

Attention getting large fronds

By: Charles A. Pass
Pros BIG
Cons NEEDS shade
Comments I like it because it is a great fern specimen and growns large

Macho macho fern!

By: Danielle Clements
Pros I like this fern because it gets so full and green.
Comments The macho fern does die back in the cold winter, but each year after the frost, I cut the dead stems off, fertilize and water. This fern comes back even more macho than the year before!
