Product Details:

Seeing this plant bloom is an experience of a lifetime.

Epiphyllum oxypetalum Night Blooming Cereus Orchid Cactus- The Orchid Cactus is a bizarre and enchanting pass along plant. This easy-to-grow plant loves filtered sunlight and dry conditions. The sword-shaped, flattened leaves have nasty thorns along the edges, and don't give much to look at; however, the mid-March burst of blooms makes up for this inconspicuous appearance. In the peak blooming time, some leaves can get up to 1 1/2 to 2 feet in length and completely covered with flowers, making it very showy. The beautiful open-faced, 7 inch blooms make the Orchid Cactus very appealing. Water thoroughly and allow the soil to dry out a little between waterings. When grown in the landscape, plant this succulent in partial shade. Orchid Cactus makes a great container plant for patios, porches, gazeboes, etc. Orchid Cactus is a unique, all-around plant and does great in hanging baskets.

Special Plants are those that we think are unique and interesting. We offer them to the adventurous gardeners who would like to add more tropical interest and color to their garden or home. Stokes Tropicals has carefully chosen a wide range of exciting tropical plants that are easy-to-grow, that are not commonly available, that have some unusual horticultural interest, and can be successfully grown in containers. We are constantly searching for new and exciting plants, particularly tropicals--from Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, and South America.

Growing Zone:

10 and higher. "Hardiness" is the capability of a plant to survive cold temperatures. In order to provide a system for identifying the extent of cold temperatures in a particular location, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a map that divides North America into eleven Hardiness Zones.

By: Sheila King
Pros Plant is truly ugly, but the bloom is beautiful.Recently, purchased two plants. One was a gift for a friend, can't wait for this plant to bloom for her.
Cons Plants blooms late at night and only one time. The plant is ugly.

Pros We love this plant, friends gave it to us a couple years ago, they called it a "Hawaiian Cactus" They lived in Hawaii, now they live here in Southern Califirnia. The blooms are at least 7 inches if not larger... beautiful.!!!! I read about it & it says it Loves direct sunlight & dry conditions, then it also says, If grown in the landscape, plant in partial shade.? Ours is in a large container. We had it in the sun, & some of the leaves turned yellowish, with dark brown spots. ? Can you tell us why? Thank You.....
Cons none
Comments The leaves are huge,& when the flowers start growing, it's really a sight to watch, in each step of their bloom. Pinkish outer area, that open up to large white feathery-like flowers, the most beautiful plant we have ever seen..
